A: How to get from Dublin to Killarney (and back)?

 

Best option: TRAIN

Trains to Killarney are leaving from Dublin Heuston station (Map).
Dublin airport is connected to Heuston station by the airlink bus Nr.747. The bus leaves the airport (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2) every 15 minutes and reaches Heuston station about 1 hour later (depending on traffic) One way ticket: € 7.00 (€ 6.00 if you book your ticket online).

Heuston station can also be reached by taxi from the airport (30 minutes, depending on traffic; fare: about € 30) or from a hotel downtown Dublin.

Tickets for trains need to be purchased at the station. Fare: €40.99, one way (subject to change).

Option 2: Coach service

Dublin-Coach connects major cities in Ireland. Coaches run regularly from Dublin Airport or Dublin City Center to Killarney Town. Fare for a one-way trip: € 20.

Option 3: Rental car

The following companies operate from Terminal 1 and 2.

Hertz, AVIS, Europcar, Enterprise, Budget and Dooley all operate from  – Terminal 1 – arrivals hall and Terminal 2 – Multi-Storey car park.

SIXT rent a car operate from Terminal 1 – arrivals Hall.

All companies also operate from different locations throughout the Dublin City.

Killarney is a very touristy and very beautiful area of Ireland. It offers a large variety of activities, many of which are outdoors. Since the Irish weather may change from one minute to the other, please bring appropriate gear that respects the Irish sun and rain.

D: How to get from Killarney to Belfast?

A bus will leave Killarney for the ISER meeting in Belfast at 10 am on Saturday, Sept 08. The transfer will take around 6 hours. Interested people can make a provisional reservation for a seat by sending an email to: cgrimm@opht.uzh.ch, or by signing up at the meeting registration desk in Killarney. However, only after the fare of € 50.00 has been paid in cash at the meeting registration desk a seat is
guaranteed - on a first come first served basis. The bus seats 49 passengers.

 

Other easy ways to travel to Belfast is via Dublin by public transportation.
