Mission Statement
The mission of the International Symposium on Retinal Degeneration (RD) meetings is to:
- Share knowledge
Provide a forum for discussing the latest research on retinal degeneration, including inherited, acquired, and age-related types
- Encourage collaboration
Create an environment for scientists to exchange ideas and establish research collaborations
- Advance careers
Support the careers of young investigators in retinal degeneration research
- Promote diversity
Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the field of retinal degeneration
The RD meetings were established by Robert E. Anderson, Joe G. Hollyfield, and Matthew M. LaVail to provide a space for clinicians and basic researchers to meet and discuss retinal degenerations.The meetings include a Macular Fast Track Workshop the day before the meeting, which features lectures from scientists in the field of macular degeneration.
